Well, it’s official. I am a completely delinquent blogger. It isn’t that I don’t have a lot of stuff to blog about, because I do. I just don’t know what is “safe” to blog about. I’m still trying to get a feel for things. I’ve taken a role as a Performance Architect in Oracle’s Systems Technology group, which is a division of the Database Server Technologies organization. I’m working on future products that I cannot talk about whatsoever. That is proving to be a bit of a bummer. Even if I blog about some of the lower-level stuff I’m seeing that is platform generic, it would still tip folks off on the sorts of things we are doing on this project, so as they say, “Mums the word.”

Oooooh… Linux Block Layer I/O?? Just what I’ve been hoping for. Seems to me, for as much as Linux is used in the Coporate environment these days, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot with regard to nitty gritty details on eeking performance out of it.
I’ll be waiting on this one.

My brother in law had a similar problem with publishing. He is an expert on lightening for a major aerospace company. Some of the things he works on are secret so he has some sort of security classification. He wanted to publish a paper on lightning and so he had to pass the paper up through his boss and the lawyers. Of course, none of them are scientists so they couldn’t understand it. So of course they classified the document so national secrets wouldn’t get out. (The experiment was one a college student could do; the results were surprising, but not a defense secret.) Too bad.
Yeah, this is a very very cool blog. 😉
